My name is Ruby Book. Yes, really. My parents aren’t very good at naming. This is my blog. Mostly I’ll be talking about fashion here. I love fashion and music. I also love Rookie and I write there.

I am 14 since October 2011 and I am in 8th grade.

I will take all the photos here either, usually with Photobooth. It’s an application on Macs that allows you to take pictures with your webcam with really bad quality. Sorry, I try to only post the better quality ones. I sometimes edit my pictures with fotoflexer.com. Sometimes I post other people’s photographs and site the source in the post. If I do not know the source, I will say so. Please leave me a comment or email me if you know an unknown source. If I used your picture and you want it down, let me know! My email is rubybook [at] gmail [dot] com.

I’m writing this blog by myself, but I might have guest posts or something like that once in a while when I’m away. I hope you enjoy reading!

  1. Hey Ruby, lemme know if you dont want me to do watever on your website, ‘kay? (i love the way that sounds ever since i read the compound) But for now, its awesome! and like i said, u’re gonna be famous one day.

  2. You are a very unique and beautiful human being. You are extremely intelligent and have a god given eye for fashion. You are an inspiration to others so keep doing what you love. Stay inspired, stay true to you, and keep blogging.

  3. Very interesting, well-written and addictive blog. You have an interesting perspective and the way in which you words things is brilliant, yet simple enough for your average reader to keep up with. Your parents obviiiiii picked a perfect middle name for you. I don’t get the dinosaurs on your head and (not but) I like your Doc Martens. Keep up the outstanding work. And don’t stop putting prehistoric plastics on your head. You rock.

  4. I just discovered your blog today (I was reading the ‘Dear Diary’ entries on the Rookie site) and I already think you’re amazing. Your outfits are fantabulous and you’re an amazing writer! I think you’re my new muse. Anyways, one quick question: how to do get publicity for your blog, and do you have any tips on how to write one? Thanks.

    • Aw, thanks! I don’t know how I got any publicity at all for my blog. For the first few months I got super excited to get 30 views a day. I think Rookie helped a lot, as would any outside writing or fashion thing for you. I also think you just need to get involved with the community. You probably know who the best-known people in the teen-fashion-blogosphere are… just talk to those people a lot! Interview them, blogroll them, ask them questions, comment on their posts. This gets you noticed by them and then everyone. Also, good content is more important than one may think.

  5. HI. I really love your blog, very inspirational and you are so lucky to write for Rookie. BTW I was (creepily) looking up tavi on youtube when I saw RubyBookify comment on one of the videos, we must be equally obsessed with her.

  6. Your diary entries on Rookie are great! I would love to write for Rookie, but I only started to blog about a month and a half ago, so I still have a ways to go! I would love some feedback on my blog from someone as experienced as you! If you had time to check me out, that would be great! Thanks so much! Love the blog!

  7. Hey there I am so grateful I found your webpage, I really found you by mistake, while I was browsing on Bing

I don’t have time to read it all at the moment but I have
saved it and also included your RSS feeds, so when I have time
I will be back to read a lot more, Please do keep up the great b.

  8. Hi, I’m Ashlyn! :)
I first found you last night on YouTube, your ‘ “Goth” to “Prep” transformation’ video. I love it and just tonight (well, it’s midnight….this morning I guess) I decided to check out the rest of your channel. I love it! Thanks for making these great videos! And just for kicks, what’s your favourite band(s)? :)

  9. Hey Ruby! So, I just read your article for Rookie — “The In Crowd” — and may I just say that as a Jewish middle school aged girl originally from NY, attending international school in Hong Kong, my 6th/7th grade experience was…i don’t know, maybe, perhaps, potentially, EXACTLY like yours?! Fortunately, middle school is longgg gone for me and I’ll be graduating at the end of the year but HOLY SHIT did that article make me as happy as a lark blowing bubbles in the dark. Not to mention, a little freaked out at our situations were so alike, but regardless. Congrats, girl.

Whenever I get a comment, I become as happy as a lark blowing bubbles in the dark.
